In 2020, our founder, Matt Romero, was on the hunt for a permanent holiday lighting solution for his home. He saw the immense value in a system that would eliminate the annual hassle of climbing roofs or hiring someone to hang lights. Matt started gathering quotes from various companies but found their offerings lacking. Some solutions had lights that were too noticeable during the day and dim at night, while others offered inadequate features for year-round use.

One company, despite having a long-standing presence in the market, failed to provide an in-person demonstration, instead sending an impersonal quote over the phone. Uncomfortable investing in a product sight unseen, Matt drove from Mapleton to their headquarters in Sandy to see the lights. Unfortunately, their app was both visually unimpressive and malfunctioning, leaving Matt unimpressed.

Continuing his search, Matt discovered another company with a promising app. However, upon visiting their facility, he encountered disorganization and poor management, which became evident through his interactions with the owners and a potential job offer. Realizing that he could offer a better solution, Matt decided to take matters into his own hands.

And so, Lux Lights was born.
